Getting started
LAILA works with a project folder on your Mac and a local AI runtime. Before starting, install and run Ollama, then make sure at least one local model is available.

Chapter 02
Installing LAILA
The first public download will target Apple Silicon Macs. Installation instructions, signing details and verified requirements will appear on the Download page with the release.
Chapter 03
Creating your first project
Choose or create a workspace folder, then initialize LAILA’s React and Vite starter. Plan & Discuss is the default: use it to shape the direction before asking LAILA to create a build plan.
Chapter 04
Models
Open AI Models to see models discovered through the local Ollama runtime. You can install a curated local model, enable or disable models, choose one for the current work, and set a default. Automatic is the intended Public MVP path for task-based routing; keep a manual model selected when you want a predictable choice.
Chapter 05
Inspect & Edit
Start the project preview, select the element you want to discuss, and send the request with that selection attached. LAILA associates the selection with source context and prepares a proposal; it does not write the change until you approve it.
Chapter 06
Working with files
Search the project, inspect relevant source files, and pin up to eight files as conversation context. LAILA bounds project search and file inspection rather than sending the whole workspace automatically.
Chapter 07
Local vs Cloud
The current core runtime is local Ollama. Supported cloud connections are part of the Public MVP contract but are not yet enabled in the release candidate. When added, cloud use must be an explicit choice with clear data-flow information.
Chapter 08
Troubleshooting
If local AI is unavailable, check that Ollama is installed, running, and has an enabled model. If a proposed change fails verification, review the fixed build command’s logs and use Generate repair proposal. Every repair remains reviewable and approval-gated.
